Caramel Topping

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and salt. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the filling mixture evenly over the top.

  4. 4

    Form the Rolls

Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Caramel Topping

In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in chopped pecans.

  6. 6

    Assemble and Bake

Pour the caramel topping over the rolls in the baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the sticky buns to cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving platter. Serve warm.
