Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and active dry yeast. Mix well. Gradually add the warm water and milk while stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is smooth.

  2. 2

    Let the Dough Rise

Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and chopped nuts together. Set aside.

  4. 4

    Shape the Pancakes

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a disc and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center. Fold the edges of the disc over the filling and pinch to seal.

  5. 5

    Cook the Pancakes

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Place the filled dough balls seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from the skillet and dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your hotteok warm!
