Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to beat until light and fluffy.
- 4
Add Eggs and Wet Ingredients
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the milk, limoncello, lemon zest, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 6
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Lemon Syrup Preparation

Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, lemon juice, and limoncello. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- 8
Simmer the Syrup
Once the mixture is boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.

Soak the Cake
Once the cake is baked and slightly cooled, poke holes all over the top of the cake with a toothpick and pour the lemon syrup over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
- 11
Add the Glaze
Once the syrup has soaked in, spread the limoncello glaze over the top of the cake. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
