Beef Spiedini

Crushed Tomato Sauce

Method

Preparation of Beef Spiedini

  1. 1

    Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, chopped fresh basil, salt, and black pepper. Add the beef strips and toss to coat. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Skewering the Beef

After marinating, thread the beef strips onto wooden skewers. Ensure not to overcrowd. Set aside.

Cooking Crushed Tomato Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Season

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and stir. Add chopped spinach, chopped fresh basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened.

Cooking Pasta and Final Assembly

  1. 5

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the angel hair pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 6

    Grill the Beef Spiedini

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the skewered beef for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. 7

    Plate the Dish

To serve, place a portion of angel hair pasta on each plate, ladle the crushed tomato sauce over the pasta, and place the grilled beef spiedini on top. Sprinkle with grated Romano cheese and additional fresh basil if desired.
