Prepare Pasta

Cook Lasagna Noodles
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make Meat Sauce

Cook the Meat
In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, and sauté until onions are translucent.

Add Sausage and Beef
Add the Italian sausage and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.

Season and Simmer
Add Maggie’s sugo, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
Prepare Cheese Mixture

Mix Ricotta Cheese
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, and salt. Stir until well blended.
Assemble Lasagna

Layer Ingredients
In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles. Add another layer of meat sauce, followed by another layer of noodles. Repeat the process and finish with a final layer of meat sauce on top.

Top with Provolone
Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese evenly over the top layer of meat sauce.
Bake

Preheat Oven
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the Lasagna
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, you can spray the foil with cooking spray). Bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Cool and Serve
Allow the lasagna to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
