Method
Preparing the Dough
- 1
Preheat and Prepare
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- 4
Add Eggs and Extracts
Beat in the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract until fully combined.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined. If the dough is too dry, add the milk one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
Shaping and Baking
- 6
Add Flavorings
Fold in the chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or colored sprinkles as desired.
- 7
Shape Cookies
Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- 8
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Remove cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- 10
Dust with Powdered Sugar
Once cooled, dust the cookies with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
