Method
Cooking the Protein
- 1
Ground Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Shredded Beef
If using shredded beef, heat in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Chicken Breast
For chicken, cook 1 lb of chicken breast in boiling water for about 20-25 minutes. Once cooked, shred using two forks.
Seasoning the Protein
- 4
Once the protein is cooked, add the taco seasoning mixture (chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper) to the skillet or saucepan. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the spices are fragrant.
Assembling the Tacos
- 5
Warm the taco shells in the oven as per package instructions. Fill each taco shell with the seasoned protein (ground beef, shredded beef, or chicken).
- 6
Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream.
- 7
Add sliced jalapeños on top, as desired, and serve immediately.
