Marinade

Method

Marinating the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours for more flavor.

Cooking the Vegetables

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the steak is marinating, wash and slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are softened and slightly caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 5

    Cook the Steak

Preheat the grill or a skillet over high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill or sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is achieved. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  2. 6

    Slice the Steak

After resting, slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.

Assembling and Serving

  1. 7

    Assemble the Fajitas

On a warm tortilla, layer the sliced steak, sautéed bell peppers, and onions. Add toppings like sour cream, salsa, and shredded cheese if desired.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while warm, allowing everyone to customize their fajitas with their favorite toppings.
