Burrito Filling

Method

Prepare the Filling

  1. 1

    Cook the Meats

If using raw chicken or beef, cook them in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked and tender. Shred or chop as desired. If using pre-cooked, simply shred or chop.

  2. 2

    Mix the Filling

In a large bowl, combine the cooked chicken, shredded beef, chili verde, red chili, ground beef, refried beans, and shredded cheese. Season with salt, pepper, and any additional spices if desired.

Make the Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine the red enchilada sauce, green salsa, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Simmer Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to let the flavors meld together.

Assemble the Burritos

  1. 5

    Warm Tortillas

Warm the flour tortillas in a skillet or microwave to make them pliable.

  2. 6

    Fill Tortillas

Place about 1 cup of the filling mixture in the center of each tortilla. Top with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Roll Burritos

Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll from the bottom up to form a tight burrito.

Serve

  1. 8

    Plate the Burritos

Place the assembled burritos on a serving platter.

  2. 9

    Top with Sauce

Generously spoon the simmered sauce over the top of each burrito.

  3. 10

    Garnish

Garnish with additional cheese, cilantro, or sour cream if desired before serving.
