Dough

Method

Preparation of Dough

  1. 1

    Boil Water and Mix Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the dough forms a ball that pulls away from the sides of the saucepan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes, then add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe Dough

Using a pastry bag fitted with a star tip, pipe the dough directly into the hot oil, cutting it to your desired length with scissors.

  3. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry churros in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  4. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Remove the churros from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Coating

  1. 8

    Prepare Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow bowl, mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 9

    Coat the Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
