Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Grits

In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of stoned ground grits and 1 teaspoon of salt. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes until thickened. Stir in 2 tablespoons of butter before serving.

  2. 2

    Cook the Meat

In a skillet over medium heat, cook your choice of meat (ham, bacon, or sausage) until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Potato Hash

Peel and dice 2 medium potatoes and 1 medium onion. In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the diced potatoes and onions, season with salt and pepper, and cook over medium heat until golden brown and crisp, about 10-15 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, prepare the eggs to your liking (scrambled, fried, or poached). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a bowl, mix 2 cups of biscuit mix with 3 tablespoons of milk until just combined. Drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the eggs, choice of meat, grits or potato hash, and biscuits. Enjoy your Southern breakfast!
