Carefully cut the silken tofu into cubes and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, sauté until fragrant and onions are translucent.

Add Flavorings
Stir in the Szechuan peppercorns and chili paste, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Combine Sauce Ingredients
Add the vegetarian dark sweet soy sauce and water to the skillet, stirring to combine.

Thicken the Sauce
Mix the cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry. Pour into the skillet, stirring until the sauce thickens.

Add Tofu
Gently fold in the tofu cubes, ensuring they are coated with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Garnish
Finely chop green onions and sprinkle over the dish before serving.
