Onion Rings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/2 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt together. Gradually whisk in the buttermilk until the batter is smooth.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Batter the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated, and allow excess batter to drip off.

  5. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with BBQ Ranch dipping sauce.
