Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prep the Ingredients

Clean and devein the tiger prawns. Chop the onion finely, mince the garlic cloves, and grate the ginger. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pan or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 3

    Add Spices

Stir in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and red chili powder. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to avoid burning the spices.

  3. 4

    Incorporate Tomato Puree

Pour in the tomato puree and stir well. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, letting the flavors meld together.

  4. 5

    Add Prawns and Coconut Milk

Add the cleaned tiger prawns to the pan and stir to coat them in the sauce. Then pour in the coconut milk and stir again. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  5. 6

    Cook the Prawns

Allow the prawns to cook in the sauce for about 5-7 minutes, or until they turn pink and are fully cooked. Season with salt to taste.

  6. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Chop fresh cilantro and sprinkle on top of the masala prawn dish before serving. Serve hot with rice or naan.
