Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Start by gathering all the ingredients. Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Chop the onion and tomato, mince the garlic, and grate the ginger.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook the Onions

In a large pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 3

    Add Garlic and Ginger

Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 4

    Incorporate Tomatoes and Spices

Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan along with turmeric, coriander, cumin, and red chili powder. Stir well and cook until the tomatoes soften, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 5

    Cook the Fish

Gently add the fish fillets to the pan. Sprinkle the garam masala and salt over the fish. Cover the pan and let it simmer on low heat for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  5. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle fresh cilantro leaves over the cooked masala fish before serving. Serve hot with rice or naan.
