Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Peel and devein the prawns. Chop the onion, tomatoes, garlic, and ginger finely.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook the Base

In a large pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

  2. 3

    Sauté the Aromatics

Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté until golden brown. Then add the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften. Then add curry powder, turmeric, coriander powder, chili powder, and salt. Cook for about 5 minutes until the spices are fragrant.

  4. 5

    Add Prawns and Coconut Milk

Add the prawns to the pan, stirring to coat them in the spice mixture. Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a gentle simmer.

  5. 6

    Simmer

Let the curry simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the prawns are cooked through and pink.

  6. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, garnish with chopped fresh coriander, and serve hot with rice or naan.
