Method

Preparation of Wings

  1. 1

    Season the Wings

In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings with salt and black pepper. Toss until wings are evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Wings for Baking

Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with vegetable oil.

Making the Teriyaki Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir well to combine.

  2. 5

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Once the sauce starts to simmer, add the slurry to the saucepan, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 6

    Remove from Heat

Once thickened, remove the sauce from heat and set aside.

Baking the Wings

  1. 7

    Bake the Wings

Place the baking sheet with the wings in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden brown and crispy.

  2. 8

    Glaze with Teriyaki Sauce

During the last 5 minutes of baking, brush the wings with the teriyaki sauce and return to the oven to caramelize the glaze.

Serving the Wings

  1. 9

    Serve

Once baked, remove the wings from the oven. Brush with additional teriyaki sauce if desired and serve hot.
