Patty Melt

French Fries

Method

Patty Melt

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter and the sliced onions. Cook until the onions are caramelized, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In another skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Leave the bacon fat in the skillet for cooking the patties.

  3. 3

    Form and Cook the Patties

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form it into two patties. In the skillet with the bacon fat, cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach the desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Patty Melt

On one slice of rye bread, place a patty, top it with a slice of Swiss cheese, two slices of bacon, and some caramelized onions. Top with another slice of rye bread. Repeat for the second sandwich.

  5. 5

    Grill the Sandwich

Butter the outsides of the assembled sandwiches with the remaining butter. Heat a skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwiches until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes on each side.

French Fries

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin sticks for frying.

  2. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 8

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the cut potatoes to the hot oil in batches. Fry until they are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste.
