Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Meat Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Cheese Mixture Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles. Add another layer of meat sauce, followed by 4 more lasagna noodles. Repeat the process, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the final layer.

Baking

  1. 5

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let it sit for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
