Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the steak

Pat the sirloin steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Chop the vegetables

While the steak is resting, chop the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms into small, even pieces.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sear the steak

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the sirloin steak and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the vegetables

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until soft and lightly caramelized.

  3. 5

    Combine and finish

Slice the rested steak into small pieces. Add the steak back to the skillet with the vegetables, pour in the beef broth, and stir to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through and the flavors meld.
