Method
Preparation of Ribs
- 1
Remove the Membrane
Start by placing the ribs bone-side up on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife to carefully lift the membrane at one end, then grab it with a paper towel and pull it off completely.
- 2
Apply Dry Rub
In a bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture generously all over the ribs, covering both sides. Let the ribs sit for at least 30 minutes to an hour, allowing the flavors to penetrate.
Cooking
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- 4
Wrap Ribs
Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil, placing them on a baking sheet. This will help to retain moisture while cooking.
- 5
Bake the Ribs
Place the baking sheet with the wrapped ribs in the preheated oven. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until the ribs are tender.
Preparation of BBQ Sauce
- 6
Mix Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
- 7
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Once it starts bubbling, reduce the heat and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
