Sausage and Peppers
Damiano Meatballs
Method
Preparing the Meatballs
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, chopped parsley, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet.
Bake the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for about 20 minutes or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
Cooking the Sausage and Peppers
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Cook the Sausage
Add the Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Vegetables
Add the sliced onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Cook for an additional 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender.
Combine with Meatballs
Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the skillet with the sausage and peppers. Stir to combine and let them cook together for another 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
