Churro Dough

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball. Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Frying

Transfer the churro dough to a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe Churros

Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting with scissors to release. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  3. 7

    Drain and Cool

Use a slotted spoon to remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels. Allow them to cool slightly.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.

  2. 9

    Add Chocolate Chips

Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and fully melted.

Coating and Serving

  1. 10

    Prepare Sugar Mixture

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 11

    Coat Churros

Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

  3. 12

    Serve

Serve the churros warm with the chocolate sauce for dipping.
