Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the crust

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated with butter.

  2. 2

    Form the crust

Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Make sure to press firmly to create a sturdy crust.

  3. 3

    Bake the crust

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

Filling Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix the filling

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, and egg yolks until well combined and smooth.

  2. 5

    Pour the filling

Pour the filling mixture into the cooled graham cracker crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

  3. 6

    Bake the pie

Bake the pie in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes. After baking, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 3 hours to set.

Topping Preparation

  1. 7

    Make the whipped cream

In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.

  2. 8

    Add sugar and zest

Add the powdered sugar and lime zest to the whipped cream and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.

  3. 9

    Top the pie

Once the pie is fully chilled and set, spread the whipped cream topping evenly over the pie. You can also pipe it for a decorative effect if desired.
