1. Prepare the Basil Dressing
In a blender, combine fresh basil leaves, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth and set aside.
2. Slice the Red Onion
Thinly slice the red onion and soak the slices in cold water for about 10 minutes to reduce their sharpness. Drain and set aside.
3. Assemble the Dish
