Fish & Chips Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tartar Sauce

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, chopped dill pickles, and lemon juice. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Slaw

Shred red cabbage and carrot. Toss together in a bowl and season with a pinch of salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the Upland Champagne Velvet Pilsner until you achieve a smooth batter.

  4. 4

    Fry the Fish

Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Dip the cod fillets in the batter and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Cook the French Fries

In the same oil, fry the French fries according to package instructions or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the fried cod with a serving of French fries and a side of red cabbage slaw. Serve with the house-made tartar sauce on the side.
