Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread stale bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 10-15 minutes until they are dry and golden brown.
- 2
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, sautéing until the onion is translucent and the celery is tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, parsley, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- 4
Add Broth and Egg
Gradually add the broth to the bread mixture, stirring gently to combine. Then, fold in the beaten egg until well incorporated.
- 5
Bake the Stuffing
Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
