Dinner Rolls
Method
Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (around 110°F) with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape Rolls
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
- 6
Second Rise
Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes until puffy.
- 7
Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8
Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with whipped butter.
