Mussels and Sauce
Method
Preparation
- 1
Cleaning the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells to remove any debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.
- 2
Cooking the Sauce
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer.
- 3
Steaming the Mussels
Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and cover with a lid. Steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the mussels have opened up.
- 4
Finishing the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
- 5
Serving
Remove the mussels from the pot and place them in a serving bowl. Pour the creamy sauce over the mussels and garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve with a thick slice of toasted artisan bread, if desired.
