Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. 6

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Prepare the Milk Mixture

While the cake is baking, mix together the evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream in a bowl.

  8. 8

Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.

  9. 9

Poke holes all over the top of the warm cake using a fork or skewer.

  10. 10

Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

  11. 11

Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  12. 12

    Serve

Before serving, you can top the cake with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or fresh fruit if desired.
