Flan Ingredients

Method

Flan Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the granulated sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar melts and turns a golden brown color. Quickly pour the caramel into a round flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

  2. 2

    Mix the Flan Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Bake the Flan

Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the mold. Place the mold in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. 4

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a plate, and allow the caramel to drizzle over the top.
