Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken Wings
Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps achieve crispy skin when frying.
- 2
Make the Dry Rub
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
Cooking
- 3
Coat the Wings
Place the chicken wings in a large bowl and sprinkle the dry rub over them. Toss the wings until they are evenly coated with the rub.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the correct temperature.
- 5
Fry the Wings
Carefully add the coated wings to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 8-10 minutes or until the wings are golden brown and cooked through.
- 6
Drain and Toss
Remove the wings from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. If desired, toss the wings in additional dry rub for extra flavor.
Serving
- 7
Serve with Dipping Sauce
Serve the dry rubbed wings hot with your choice of ranch dressing or buffalo sauce for dipping.
