Preparation of Fries
1. Cutting the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut each potato into crinkle-cut fries using a crinkle cutter or knife, ensuring they are of uniform thickness for even cooking.
2. Soaking the Fries
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps achieve crispiness when frying.
3. Drying the Fries
Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
4. Frying the Fries
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the dried fries in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
5. Draining the Fries
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
6. Seasoning the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with seasoning salt. If desired, you can also add Cajun seasoning or Frank's Red Hot seasoning for a spicy kick.
Dipping Sauce Preparation
7. Preparing Ketchup
Serve ketchup in a small bowl as a classic dipping sauce.
8. Preparing Mayonnaise
Serve mayonnaise in a separate bowl for a creamy dipping option.
