Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  2. 2

    Brown the Brisket

Add the smoked beef brisket to the pot. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the brisket is heated through.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Beans

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and black beans. Mix well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 4

    Season the Chili

Add the chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to incorporate the spices evenly.

  5. 5

    Simmer

Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it cook uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 6

    Prepare Toppings

While the chili simmers, dice the red onion and prepare the shredded cheddar cheese.

  2. 7

    Serve the Chili

After the chili has thickened to your liking, ladle 6 ounces of chili into a bowl. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and diced red onion.

  3. 8

    Add Sour Cream (Optional)

If desired, add a dollop of sour cream on top. Serve hot and enjoy!
