Oysters
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Oysters
Carefully scrub the oysters under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris. Rinse thoroughly and set aside.
- 2
Shuck the Oysters
Using an oyster knife, gently insert the knife into the hinge of each oyster and twist to open. Carefully remove the top shell, keeping the oyster and its juices in the bottom shell.
- 3
Prepare the Serving Platter
On a large platter, create a bed of crushed ice to hold the oysters. Arrange the opened oysters on top of the ice.
- 4
Serve with Accompaniments
Garnish the oysters with lemon wedges, and serve with hot sauce, cocktail sauce, and horseradish on the side.
