Fried Pickles
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the sliced pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice in buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture until evenly coated. Shake off any excess coating.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the coated pickle slices to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
