Fried Calamari Ingredients
Method
Fried Calamari Directions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Marinate
In a bowl, soak the calamari rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes. This will help tenderize the calamari.
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 4
Coat the Calamari
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk and let the excess drip off. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until they are evenly coated.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or a pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot, garnished with fresh parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
