Bread Pudding Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the day-old French bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Custard

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the custard mixture over the torn bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Add in the raisins and bourbon (if using) and gently fold to combine.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Baking Dish

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter. Pour the bread mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly.

  5. 5

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Allow the bread pudding to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. It can be served warm or at room temperature, optionally topped with a drizzle of bourbon sauce or whipped cream.
