Cake Base

Tres Leches Mixture

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Beat Eggs and Sugar

In another bowl, whisk the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the whole milk and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.

Tres Leches Mixture Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Tres Leches Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk. Whisk until smooth.

  2. 7

    Soak the Cake

Once the cake is cooled, poke holes all over the surface using a fork. Slowly pour the tres leches mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Topping Preparation

  1. 8

    Whip the Cream

In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.

  2. 9

    Top the Cake

Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake. Optionally, sprinkle with cinnamon before serving.
