Method
Preparation
- 1
Brew the Espresso
Start by brewing 1 cup of strong espresso coffee. Once brewed, allow it to cool slightly, then stir in coffee liqueur if desired. Set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture is pale and creamy. This should take about 5 minutes. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- 3
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to create a light and airy filling.
Assembly
- 4
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange half of the dipped ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a rectangular dish.
- 5
Layer the Filling
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly with a spatula.
- 6
Repeat Layers
Repeat the dipping process with the remaining ladyfingers and layer them on top of the mascarpone filling. Finish with the rest of the mascarpone mixture spread evenly on top.
Finishing Touch

Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder using a fine sieve. Cut into squares and enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
