Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a large pot, combine 4 cups of water, the sliced lemon, Old Bay seasoning, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the peeled and deveined shrimp. Boil for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the Shrimp

Remove the pot from heat and drain the shrimp. Transfer them to an ice bath (a bowl of ice water) for about 5 minutes to stop the cooking process and chill them thoroughly.

  4. 4

    Drain and Refrigerate

After chilling, drain the shrimp again and refrigerate them until ready to serve.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, prepared horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Adjust the level of hot sauce to your preference.

  2. 6

    Chill the Sauce

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the cocktail sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Shrimp

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter or individual cocktail glasses.

  2. 8

    Serve with Sauce

Serve the shrimp with a side of the chilled cocktail sauce for dipping.
