Method

Prepare the Doughnut Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted coconut oil until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Batter

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. Set aside.

Prepare the French Toast Mixture

  1. 4

    Whisk Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the grand marnier, milk, eggs, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well blended.

Fry the Doughnuts

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Shape and Dip

Using a doughnut cutter or two round cookie cutters, cut out doughnut shapes from the batter. Dip each doughnut into the French toast mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.

  3. 7

    Fry Doughnuts

Carefully place the coated doughnuts in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve the Doughnuts

  1. 8

    Add Toppings

Drizzle the dulce de leche over the fried doughnuts, then top with shredded coconut and a dollop of strawberry jam.

  2. 9

    Serve Warm

Serve the doughnuts warm, and enjoy your crunchy grand marnier french toast doughnuts!
