Mojito Ingredients

Method

Mojito Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass, add the fresh mint leaves and sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the mint leaves to release their oils and combine them with the sugar. Do not over-muddle; you want to bruise the leaves, not shred them.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from one half into the glass. You can also drop the lime half into the glass for added flavor. Muddle again gently to mix the lime juice with the mint and sugar.

  3. 3

    Mix in the Rum

Pour the white rum into the glass over the muddled mint, lime, and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes to the top, ensuring the mixture is chilled.

  5. 5

    Top with Soda Water

Pour in the soda water until the glass is nearly full. Stir gently to combine the soda water with the other ingredients without losing the carbonation.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish your mojito with a sprig of fresh mint and a slice of lime if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
