Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccine
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.
Alfredo Sauce Preparation
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it is fully melted and slightly bubbly.
- 4
Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 5
Stir in the Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
- 6
Add Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well to combine.
Combine and Serve
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly in the sauce. If needed, add more reserved pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Serve the fettuccine Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped parsley for added flavor and color.
