1. Make the Simple Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (1:1 ratio). Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.

2. Chill the Glass

Place your cocktail glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the drink.

Mixing the Cocktail

3. Combine Ingredients

In a mixing glass, add 2 oz of Black Butte Malt Whiskey, 0.5 oz of simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

4. Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes until full.

5. Stir

Stir the mixture for about 30 seconds or until well chilled.

Serving

6. Strain and Serve

Remove the ice from your chilled cocktail glass and strain the mixture into the glass.

7. Garnish

Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a twist. Drop the peel into the drink and add a maraschino cherry for garnish.
