Method

Preparation of Filling

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peaches

Wash and peel the peaches, then slice them into a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix Filling Ingredients

Add granulated sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the peaches. Gently toss until the peaches are well coated. Set aside to let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes.

Preparation of Topping

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 7

    Assemble Cobbler

Pour the peach filling into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spoon the topping mixture evenly over the peaches.

  3. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.

  4. 9

    Serve

Allow the cobbler to cool for a few minutes before serving warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
