Method

Hummus Preparation

  1. 1

    Drain and Rinse Chickpeas

Open the can of chickpeas and drain the liquid. Rinse the chickpeas under cold water to remove any excess salt and preservatives.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, salt, and water.

  3. 3

    Process Until Smooth

Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy. If the hummus is too thick, add more water (1 tablespoon at a time) until the desired consistency is reached.

  4. 4

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning if needed by adding more salt, lemon juice, or tahini.

  5. 5

    Transfer and Serve

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with a pinch of cumin or paprika if desired.

Serving Suggestions

  1. 6

    Prepare Pita Bread

Warm the pita bread in a toaster or oven until soft and slightly crispy. Cut into triangles for dipping.

  2. 7

    Prepare Seasonal Vegetables

Wash and cut seasonal vegetables (like bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, or cherry tomatoes) into sticks or bite-sized pieces for serving.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the hummus with the warm pita bread and fresh seasonal vegetables on the side for dipping.
