Coffee
Method
Brewing
- 1
Grind the Coffee Beans
Using a burr grinder, grind the espresso coffee beans to a fine consistency, similar to table salt. Measure out 18 grams for a single shot.
- 2
Prepare the Espresso Machine
Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to heat up for about 15-20 minutes. Ensure the portafilter is clean and dry.
- 3
Tamp the Coffee Grounds
Place the ground coffee into the portafilter basket evenly. Use a tamper to press down firmly and evenly with about 30 pounds of pressure to create a smooth, level coffee puck.
- 4
Brew the Espresso
Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine group head. Start the brewing process and let it extract for about 25-30 seconds. The espresso should have a rich, dark color with crema on top.
- 5
Serve
Once brewed, carefully pour the espresso into a pre-warmed espresso cup. Enjoy your single shot of espresso!
