Ice Cream Base Preparation
- 1
Mix the Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved and the ingredients are well incorporated.
- 2
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until it's thoroughly chilled.
Flavoring the Ice Cream
- 3
Add Flavor
Once the base is chilled, divide it into separate bowls depending on how many flavors you wish to create. To each bowl, add your desired flavoring ingredient: cocoa powder for chocolate, pureed strawberries for strawberry, crushed cookies for cookies and cream, chopped nuts for nutty flavor, or caramel sauce for caramel ice cream.
- 4
Mix Well
Stir each flavoring ingredient into the respective bowl thoroughly until fully combined. Ensure there are no lumps or dry spots.
Churning and Freezing
- 5
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour each flavored mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- 6
Freeze
Transfer the churned ice cream into airtight containers and place them in the freezer for at least 4 hours or until firm.
