Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and dice the russet potatoes into small cubes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and let cool slightly.
Mash the Potatoes
In a mixing bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth. Allow to cool completely.
Mix Ingredients
Add flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until combined.
Form Tater Tots
Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small cylinders or oval shapes.
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
Fry the Tater Tots
Carefully drop the formed tater tots into the hot oil, frying in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
Drain and Serve
Remove the tater tots from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
